Peter Knockaert (°1980) started his musical carreer in the ‘Academie voor Muziek & Woord der Noorderkempen’ (now: Muzarto). After a Latin-Greek study in college he studied guitar (with Roland Broux) and composition (with Luc Van Hove) at the Royal Conservatory of Antwerp and got his Masters degree in 2004.
As a classical guitarist he attended masterclasses with Alberto Ponce, Marco Socías, Eduardo Isaac, Yves Storms, Pavel Steidl. In 1999 he won the Guitar Contest for Youth in Aalst and became a finalist one year later in the Axion-Classics Contest. In 2002 he joined the guitar quartett Quadrant and recorded a CD with Klara (National Classical Broadcasting) including 2 of his compositions. Quadrant played on national and international occasions and podia and was invited on a regular basis on festivals (i.e. Klara in Lier, The Flanders Festival).
At this moment Peter Knockaert is teaching classical guitar at Muzarto (Academy for Music, Letter and Dance). He is also Professor Music Engraving at the Royal Conservatory of Antwerp.
In 2006 Peter Knockaert has founded Herakles Audio & Graphics Services, aiming to connect the business of music (sheet music, recording, music production) and the graphics business (engraving, layout, design). The start of this business raised from an elaborate interest of various institutions, music publishers. Also different artists, ensembles, composers and arrangers started to appeal to services by Herakles.
As a composer he collaborated on a number of music productions and recordings. ATV (Antwerp Television) used his music for promotion film. And in 2007 the VRT (largest TV company in Belgium) commissioned music for the ‘Kom op tegen Kanker’ show (a show raising money for cancer research).
Peter Knockaert is composing and arranging music for every possible instrumentation and genre: contemporary/classical music, music for film/theatre, children’s songs, pop music, electronic music, dance oriented productions, …
Herakles Audio & Graphics Services worked on projects worldwide for private persons as well as for official institutions and (music) publishers.
